Railways have now made the on-board catering facilities for passengers of Rajdhani Express an optional exercise, officials said on Friday. The option is available on 30 trains — five Shatabdi, 13 Duronto and 12 Rajdhani if the ticket is booked after August 1.
However This facility of optional catering will be available for passengers booking their tickets for journey from September 1, 2019.
During the booking of ticket through IRCTC, a passenger can now opt out of the catering facility as there are three options for meal — veg, non-veg and no food. Catering charges ranging from Rs 175 to Rs 340 will be deducted from the total fare if the passenger opts out from the mandatory food options. But passengers cannot change their option during the journey once they opt out.
With e-catering facility also available for passengers, it will be an added advantage for travellers. A passenger can chose meal from a host of outlets — Sagar Ratna, Saravana Bhavan, Bikanervala, Nirula’s, KFC, McDonald’s, Haldiram’s, Domino’s and Pizza Hut — from online catering service.
